Trading Standards

Breaches of trading standard laws can result in a prosecution. Such prosecutions can begin by an individual making a complaint about the quality of work undertaken by an individual or organisation or the practices of a business in respect of how fireworks are stored. A typical example is the selling of items in a market which are found to be fraudulent. In serious cases, raids on warehouses can take place where police officers accompany Trading Standard officers and uncover goods to a high value which appear to be fraudulent. Typically, a local authority will invite the accused into their offices for an interview and following this process, a summons to attend Court may be issued.

At any stage of the proceedings, we can assist and provide and assistance. It is preferable to obtain legal advice as soon as possible as negotiations can sometimes avoid a prosecution taking place.
